About The Project
Help Through Crisis was a partnership project that supported people across Stockton-on-Tees who were experiencing hardship, crisis, or significant life challenges. Bringing together specialist organisations with expertise in welfare advice, substance misuse support, food provision, and personal development, the project helped people address immediate needs while also building the foundations for a more stable and positive future.

Delivered by Actes Trust alongside Stockton and District Advice and Information Service (SDAIS), Bridges, and Billingham Food Bank, the project recognised that people facing crisis often experience multiple, interconnected challenges. By working collaboratively, partners were able to provide coordinated support that addressed both the immediate causes and longer-term impacts of hardship.

At Actes Trust, we provided life coaching and personalised one-to-one support, taking the time to understand each person's circumstances, strengths, and aspirations. Together, we helped individuals identify barriers, develop action plans, build confidence, and take positive steps towards training, employment, and greater independence.

Supporting People Through Difficult Times
Help Through Crisis worked with people who were accessing services such as food banks, homelessness support, welfare assistance, social care, mental health crisis services, and substance misuse support. Rather than offering a one-size-fits-all approach, the project placed people at the centre of the support they received, enabling them to shape their own journey and focus on the outcomes that mattered most to them.
Support was tailored to individual circumstances and could include welfare advice, advocacy, practical assistance, action planning, confidence building, and ongoing one-to-one guidance. By combining specialist advice with longer-term personal support, the project helped people overcome immediate difficulties, strengthen their resilience, and plan confidently for the future.
Our Approach
A key strength of Help Through Crisis was its belief that people are more than the challenges they face. The project built on individuals' existing strengths, experiences, and ambitions, helping them regain stability, increase their confidence, and move forward with renewed purpose. Through partnership working and personalised support, Help Through Crisis enabled people to navigate difficult periods in their lives while creating lasting opportunities for change.
