What is Pre-Employment Preparation?

Pre-Employment Preparation is a short community course designed to support Middlesbrough residents with overcoming barriers to employment, with a strong emphasis on confidence building, developing practical skills and long-term career planning.

When does Pre-Employment Preparation run?

Pre Employment Preparation runs on a Monday and Tuesday at our Acklam Green Centre, Stainsby Road, Middlesbrough, TS5 4JS, 10am - 3pm.

What practical support does Pre-Employment Preparation provide?

Pre-Employment Preparation offers practical support in three key areas:

  1. Applying for Employment
Learners receive guidance on finding suitable job opportunities, researching employers, understanding job requirements, and creating strong applications. The aim is to build confidence and improve employability.

  2. Interview Preparation and Success
The programme helps learners prepare for different interview formats (formal, informal, online, video), develop effective responses to common questions, and build rapport.

  3. Starting and Sustaining Employment
Support continues after securing a job, including preparing for the first day, meeting obligations (e.g., notifying Jobcentre Plus), and planning for career progression. Learners also explore strategies for maintaining employment and achieving long-term success.
