About The Project
Beginners Intro to IT is a short community learning programme designed to support digitally excluded adults to become more confident using computers and online technology. Delivered in a relaxed and supportive environment, the course helps participants build practical digital skills that can be applied in everyday life, learning and employment.

The programme recognises that many people can feel overwhelmed by technology or lack opportunities to develop digital skills. Through hands-on activities and personalised support, learners can gain confidence using a computer and navigating online services safely and independently.

Participants are introduced to the fundamentals of using a computer in a supportive and welcoming environment. Throughout the course, learners develop confidence using everyday digital tools, including Microsoft Word, email and internet-based services, while gaining an understanding of online safety and security. The programme focuses on building practical skills that can be applied in daily life, learning and employment, helping participants become more independent and confident when using technology.​​

Accessing the Project
Beginners Intro to IT is available to Middlesbrough residents aged 19 and over who have not completed a formal qualification within the last 12 months, unless they are looking to change career.

Referrals are welcomed from partner organisations, support services and other professionals. Individuals can also enquire directly about accessing support.
