INTRODUCTION TO THE ROLE​

The Youth Sector in Middlesbrough has faced significant challenges over recent times through reductions in public sector funding, an increasingly competitive funding environment, the impact of COVID-19 and the cost-of-living crisis. At various points, organisations have looked to come together more effectively, but have been hampered by a lack of capacity, alongside finding ways to deliver in a more cohesive way.

 

The Middlesbrough Youth Mutual (MYM) is a collective response to these challenges, consisting of key partners (led by Youth Focus, Actes Trust, The Junction Foundation and Linx Youth Project) who have come together to form an alliance to support the sustainability of high-quality youth provision across Middleborough.

 

The MYM has successfully secured funding from the National Community Lottery Fund to drive our strategy to help us deliver a strong and sustainable youth sector in the coming years. Our partnership builds on the strengths of individual organisations, developing shared goals and recognising the different approaches needed across our town.

 

This funding has enabled Actes Trust to employ a MYM Engagement & Communications Support Officer on a part-time, fixed-term basis to support the delivery of MYM by engaging with young people and local businesses, gathering meaningful feedback, and assisting in the implementation of the communications plan - strengthening the overall communications function and amplifying the impact of youth work across the community, the wider youth offer and the voice of young people.

Role details

Actes Trust are looking to appoint 1x MYM Engagement & Communications Support Officer​​

Salary: £24,557 p/a FTE (£16,592 pro rata).

Contract Hours: 25 hours p/w

Start Date: ASAP  -  End Date: 31st March 2027
